The output of a logic gate is *not* the output you specify in the editor while building. Like other blocks, they also have fields for Timing and Delay. These Logic Blocks can also be controlled directly with a Green (Positive) and a Red (Negative) keyboard inputs. Logic Gates work by providing an output based on the input it gets. There are 4 types of logic blocks in the game: These blocks can be used to create automation and more advanced controls for vehicles. On one of the 1x2 sides, they have a display depicting 2 arrows and a symbol representing their contained Logic Gate.

I’ll try it again tomorrow with a fresh mind and see.Logic Blocks are 1x1x2 sized blocks that simulate the action of Logical Gates. One extra block of complexity saved me from trying to figure out why. But when I tried to just use the throttle input mapped on gate 6 directly, for some reason it just would not send. The idea is to work similarly to the cruise control on a car in real life.Īlso, for gate 6 and 10 being combined, that was my initial idea as well. I didn’t want them to interfere with each other. Gate 6 is an ANY gate to allow the throttle to override the cruise control for extra power if needed.

But if you’re right, I totally agree that they could be OR gates instead.

Not sure what you mean about a second seat, I’ve never done that with my builds. It probably shouldn’t work that way, but it does. Try it out yourself (don’t have to bother with the whole machine if you don’t want, but just try an AND gate with a toggled input source and a variable source), and you’ll see that you can most definitely use it that way. You’re mistaken in thinking that the AND gate result wouldn’t work properly as a variable output. It actually runs just fine as designed and explained, and I can show you in the morning. In fact, this applies to all inputs to the engines, not just throttle inputs The throttle input won't be the highest value, it will be the sum of all throttle inputs. The speed sensor must have trigger below to achieve the behavior you want Furthermore, gates 10 and 6 can be merge by simply removing gate 10 and putting its keybind on gate 6 as long as you don't want toggle on that keybind (which i doubt you want since it's a throttle input) Gate 6 can't be any gate, it must be an OR gate to get the behavior you want.

OR gates don't have this issue, which is why you should always use them for keybind inputs unless you have a reason to not do so. While during testing it might appear to be working correctly with AND gates, it won't work the moment you add a second seat due to how keybind inputs work. Gates 1 and 2 should be OR gates since they have no inputs other than keybinds. Set its output value to -1, connect it to gate 5, and connect gate 2 to it Since the other input is also positive, the sum of the inputs will always be greater than or equal to 1, which means the output will always be 1 if it's activate. However, this means that gate 2 must be on, which will add a 1 input to the AND gate. The problem is that since gate 5 is an AND gate, in order for it to send an output all its inputs must be on. In order for that system to send an output, gate 5 must send an output. The throttle system as a whole won't work.
